No. Coova’s family medicine services are designed to work alongside your existing physician, not replace them. We fill coordination gaps, particularly for clients whose care spans multiple providers and whose needs aren’t fully addressed within a standard appointment model. If you don’t have a family doctor, we can discuss what role physician support at Coova might play while you work toward securing one.
No referral is required. You can contact us directly to begin. We welcome self-referrals, as well as referrals from specialists, discharge planners, mental health teams, and community organizations.
Physician services delivered within MSP-eligible structures may be billable through the public system. Private care coordination involving physician time outside of that structure is typically not MSP-covered, but extended health benefits and private insurance plans may apply depending on your situation. Navigating coverage can be confusing, and we’re here to help you get clarity on what applies to your situation.
Physician involvement at Coova is primarily coordination-based, care conferences, chart review, specialist liaison, and clinical oversight, and takes place within your care team’s workflow. Direct clinical encounters can be arranged depending on your needs and location.
