Behavioral consultants work across a broad scope of practice. At Coova, our behavioural consulting services are delivered by certified behaviour analysts and trained behaviour interventionists who design evidence-based support plans, while interventionists deliver direct skill-building and behaviour support, practicing alongside and under the clinical supervision of the consultant leading your plan. Your case manager remains your primary point of contact, holding the bigger picture and ensuring all behavioural support, whether behaviour assessment, skills programming, or caregiver coaching, is integrated into one coordinated plan built around you.
Individualized Support, Where You Live
Our behavioural consulting services provide clinically informed, evidence-based support delivered wherever you are, in your home, school, workplace, or community. Behaviour analysts are trained to assess the function of behaviour, identify what’s driving it, and design targeted support that creates meaningful, lasting change.
This flexibility is intentional. Behaviour doesn’t exist in a vacuum, and neither does our work. Every behavioural consulting service is delivered with a commitment to ethical practice, cultural humility, and client dignity, and integrated into the broader care plan your case manager is leading.
The goal is not only to reduce challenging behaviour, but to build skills, increase independence, and create a clearer path forward through coordinated, community-based behavioural support.
Your behaviour consultant conducts a thorough assessment to understand what’s driving specific behaviours, including their function, triggers, patterns, and context. Functional behaviour assessments form the clinical foundation for all programming and are completed in the environments where behaviour actually occurs.
We design clear, structured behaviour support plans built around the individual, their strengths, goals, environment, and the people around them. Plans are written in plain language, communicated to the full care team, and updated as the individual grows and goals shift.
Behavioural support isn’t just about reducing difficult behaviour, it’s about building what replaces it. We develop and implement skills programming targeting communication, daily living, self-regulation, social skills, and independence, using structured teaching strategies grounded in applied behaviour analysis.
Families and caregivers are central to any behavioural support plan. We work directly with the people in a client’s life to build understanding, consistency, and confidence, coaching on how to implement strategies, respond to challenging moments, and support skill generalization across settings.
Our behavioural consultants work collaboratively with schools, daycares, community programs, and other settings to ensure strategies translate across environments. Consistency across contexts is what makes behaviour support stick.
Your behaviour consultant doesn’t work in a silo. At Coova, real-time communication and transparency across your clinical team, including social work, psychiatry and psychology, occupational therapy, nursing, dietitian services, speech and language, recreational therapy, and spiritual and cultural support, means insights are shared, plans stay aligned, and clinical goals are met through a team that’s consistently working from the same page.

We also provide community-based behavioural consulting for:
A behaviour consultant, typically a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) or a Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) working under supervision, is a clinician trained in applied behaviour analysis (ABA). Rather than focusing primarily on emotional processing, behavioural consulting centres on observable behaviour: understanding why it’s happening and building structured, evidence-based plans to address it. This often includes direct skills teaching and coaching the people in a client’s environment.
No referral is required. You can contact us directly to begin. We welcome self-referrals, as well as referrals from physicians, pediatricians, schools, psychologists, and community organizations.
Behavioural consulting services are not typically covered by MSP, but there may be more funding options available than you’d expect, including CLBC funding, extended health benefits, autism funding, and private insurance plans. Navigating coverage can be confusing, and we’re here to help you get clarity on what applies to your situation.
Support is offered community-based and can take place in your home, schools, community spaces, or virtually depending on your needs and the nature of the service.
Our behavioural consulting services are designed to complement, not replace, existing care. Your behaviour consultant collaborates with other clinicians involved in your treatment to ensure your support is cohesive and aligned with your broader care plan.
Both. Direct programming is built around the individual, but family and caregiver coaching is a core part of how we work. The more consistent the environment, the more effective the support. During your initial consultation, we will help determine the configuration of support that best fits your situation.
A consultation is the best place to start. We take the time to understand your situation and whether this service is well-suited to your needs. If another form of support would serve you better, we will be transparent and help you find the right direction.
