Nurses work across a broad scope of practice. At Coova, our nursing services are delivered by Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs) who carry clinical assessments, medication support, and complex health monitoring, while Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) deliver direct care and health support within their scope, practicing alongside and under the clinical oversight of the nurse leading your care. Your case manager remains your primary point of contact, holding the bigger picture and ensuring all nursing support, whether health monitoring, psychiatric nursing, or medication management, is integrated into one coordinated plan built around you.
Individualized Support, Where You Live
Our nursing services provide clinically informed, health-focused support delivered wherever you are, in your home, school, workplace, or community. Nurses are trained to assess physical and psychiatric health needs, monitor risk, coordinate with physicians and specialists, and provide skilled hands-on care in the settings where people actually live their lives.
This flexibility is intentional. Health doesn’t stay contained to clinic hours, and neither does our care. Every nursing service is delivered with a commitment to ethical practice, cultural humility, and client dignity, and integrated into the broader care plan your case manager is leading.
The goal is not only to manage acute needs, but to stabilize health, build self-management capacity, and create a clearer path forward through coordinated, community-based nursing support.
Your nurse conducts thorough, ongoing health assessments to track physical and psychiatric wellbeing, identify changes in condition, and flag concerns to your broader care team and physician. Regular monitoring in your home or community means issues are caught early — before they become crises.
Our Registered Psychiatric Nurses bring specialized training in mental health and addiction. RPN support includes mental status assessment, psychiatric symptom monitoring, medication education, and direct therapeutic support for individuals living with complex mental health conditions. This is community-based psychiatric care, delivered where you are.
We support individuals in understanding, organizing, and adhering to prescribed medication regimens. This includes blister pack coordination, medication reconciliation, and education for clients and families, reducing risk and improving outcomes without requiring repeat clinic visits.
For individuals with complex physical health needs, our LPNs and RNs provide skilled wound care, vitals monitoring, post-procedure follow-up, and other regulated nursing tasks in the home and community. This keeps care continuous and reduces unnecessary emergency visits.
We help individuals and families understand health conditions, recognize warning signs, and develop practical self-management strategies. Community-based health education is especially valuable for individuals managing chronic conditions, those recently discharged from hospital, and families supporting a loved one through complex illness.
Your nurse doesn’t work in a silo. At Coova, real-time communication and transparency across your clinical team, including social work, psychiatry and psychology, occupational therapy, behavioural consulting, dietitian services, speech and language, recreational therapy, and spiritual and cultural support, means insights are shared, plans stay aligned, and clinical goals are met through a team that’s consistently working from the same page.
Our nursing services in BC support individuals and families including:
We also provide community-based nursing support for:
All three are regulated nursing professionals in BC, each with a defined scope of practice. RNs hold the broadest clinical scope, including complex health assessment and care planning. RPNs hold specialized training in mental health, addiction, and psychiatric care, with a scope of practice equivalent to RNs within that domain. LPNs provide direct care within a more defined scope, often carrying out nursing tasks under the oversight of an RN or RPN. At Coova, the nurse supporting you is matched to your needs, and your case manager ensures the right clinical level is in place.
No referral is required. You can contact us directly to begin. We welcome self-referrals, as well as referrals from physicians, specialists, discharge planners, mental health teams, and community organizations.
Community nursing services are not typically covered by MSP outside of specific publicly funded programs, but there may be more funding options available than you’d expect — including extended health benefits, home care funding, Veterans Affairs, and private insurance plans. Navigating coverage can be confusing, and we’re here to help you get clarity on what applies to your situation.
Support is offered community-based and can take place in your home, schools, community spaces, or virtually depending on your needs and the nature of the service.
Our nursing services are designed to complement, not replace, existing care. Your nurse communicates directly with your physician, specialists, and the rest of your Coova clinical team to ensure your support is cohesive and aligned with your broader care plan.
Support is structured around the individual, but health education and caregiver coaching are part of how we work, particularly when families are managing a loved one’s care at home. During your initial consultation, we will help determine the configuration of support that best fits your situation.
A consultation is the best place to start. We take the time to understand your situation and whether this service is well-suited to your needs. If another form of health support would serve you better, we will be transparent and help you find the right direction.
